FAQs: Massage & BodyWork
Is Cathy a Licensed Massage Therapist?
Cathy is a licensed massage therapist. Her license number is LA9278. Here’s more About Cathy.
Why Does Licensing Matter?
It is illegal to practice massage in Louisiana without licensure.
Specifically, §3556. Licensure; Qualifications addresses licensing. You can read the full Section here, and click on “Louisiana Law” then “Practice Act.”
Where Are You Located?
Cathy’s studio is located on her private property off of Hwy 421 (Spillman Road). The studio is detached from the private residence. There is a sign that reads “MASSAGE” clearly indicating entrance to the studio along with a parking area designated for clients.
Is It True That Cathy's Pain Relief Massage Allows Me to Stay Fully Clothed?
Pain relief massage sessions can be fully clothed; just wear loose-fitting clothing (no jeans or thick sweats). You can always bring something comfortable to change into; otherwise, the only thing you’ll remove is your shoes.
Will the Pain Relief Massage Hurt?
The pain relief massage does not hurt but it is a different type of massage generally referred to as “bodywork.” This means you will actively participate by providing slight resistance during this fully clothed session.
Cathy may ask you to hold a particular position with your arm, leg, or abs and Cathy will let you know when to relax the arm, leg, or abs. It really is an “ebb-and-flow” between you and Cathy so that every muscle group is addressed. Because the body’s central command system is activated during a pain relief session, muscle tightness and musculoskeletal pain dissipates in just seconds.
How Much Does It Cost?
Cash and check are preferred forms of payment. Checks should be made payable to SmithWorks Inc., or, SWI.
Major credit cards are accepted at the time of booking. The company name you’ll see on your credit card statement is SmithWorks Inc.
For How Long Can I Schedule a Session?
Most sessions are offered as follows:
- 60 minutes
- 90 minutes (an hour and a half)
- 120 minutes (two hours)
How Do I Schedule?

If you do not see a date and/or time that meets your calendar requirements, please call her at (225) 784 – 2168. However, the phone can not be answered while she is in session. If there is no answer, please leave a voice mail and Cathy will promptly return your call.
Can I Ask Cathy About Holistic Health While in Session?
No. Furthermore, Cathy does not schedule private wellness consultations. Instead, she and her husband, Zach, offer a 4-month on-line Biblically-based membership program called Third Covenant.
Can I Bring My Children to My Appointment?
No. Cathy’s private studio is designed as a professional services building with room for herself and up to two adults. Please make arrangements for child care during your appointment.
Can I Bring My Pet to My Appointment?
No. Other clients may experience pet- or animal-related allergies. For this reason, pets are not allowed.
About Our Services
Relaxation massage is a smooth, gentle, flowing style that promotes general relaxation, relieves muscular tension, and improves circulation and movement range. Cathy’s goal is to relax, revive and rejuvenate you at a massage depth that does not cause discomfort.
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage uses many of the same movements and techniques as a relaxation massage but the pressure will generally be more intense. It is also a more focused type of massage as the therapist works to release chronic muscle tension or knots. Deep tissue massage is excellent for chronic tightness, scar formation, repetitive strain or regular high-intensity exercises.
A quality deep-tissue massage helps to:
- loosen muscle tissues,
- release toxins from muscles, and
- get blood and oxygen circulating properly.
Pain Relief BodyWork
This is a fully-clothed session that works with the body’s central command system (CCS) to release tightness and muscular pain. Clients report release of tight and tense muscles within minutes even after being pain for years. Clients also report being pain-free for longer periods of time after just one pain relief session than with any other modality they’ve tried (chiropractic care, relaxation or deep tissue massage, etc.).
